Since antiquity, the Alps of Haute Provence has been a region known for the seasonal movement of shepherds and their flocks who came down from the North or from Italy to go to the plain of la Crau, and who crossed these plateaux. Most have left many shepherd huts made from dry stones as well as some "bories".
